Individual Therapy

I work collaboratively with my clients to identify goals in order to reduce suffering and move into a space where people can create satisfying lives. Through this process it is important to look at the past in order to understand all of the factors that play into thoughts and behaviors that are no longer useful. I work with clients to acknowledge and accept the past while moving forward in a healthy way. In order to move beyond unhealthy coping people often need to replace it with a new skill set. It is important to me that clients walk away from my treatment with a new set of skills that they can use for life. Therapy is not a lifestyle. It should be used to help people transition into spaces that they can ultimately help themselves. The length of treatment varies based on the needs of the client.

Couples Therapy

Being in a loving relationship is one of the most wonderful gifts of being human. We all seek to be understood and deeply loved by others. Unfortunately, relationships can be difficult to maintain. On a day to day basis most people’s lives are complicated and hectic. Then add our own personal histories to the mix and people often find themselves in unsatisfying relationships. If you are interested in being happy rather than being right; I suggest couples therapy. It is a thing of wonder for people to come together and work on a relationship. Seeing couples improve their communication and strengthen bonds is a difficult yet amazing process. It takes so much courage to be vulnerable enough to face relationship problems but it often can lead to renewed commitments and overall happiness.

Group Therapy

Although it may feel intimidating to join a group of strangers, evidence has shown that group therapy has proven to be an effective in way to deal with a variety of issues. This model of therapy helps people get better because everyone has the opportunity to work on interpersonal effectiveness through giving and receiving validation. DBT therapy in particular, provides people with a road map for healthy living. I use the 4 modules: Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation and Distress Tolerance to help people move beyond painful personal histories and begin creating vision for their futures. I truly believe that all people have the ability to be effective in life. I am excited to help you create a vision for your future so that you have a reason to work hard in treatment.
